One person killed in shootout in Dagestan

A militant was killed in the Derbent District; another member of the armed underground is chased, said a Dagestani law enforcement source.

The incident occurred in the course of operative-search actions in the area between the settlements of Rukel and Mitagi-Kazmalyar, said the source.

"Law enforcers faced a group of militants, who opened fire on them. By response fire, one of the criminals was liquidated; the second one, who took refuge in a forest, is being sought," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the source as saying.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported a murder of suspected militant in the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan on May 26. Power agents killed a man who opened fire on them in response to the demand to show documents.
