President of Georgia pardons 95 convicts

69 of them will be released from their jails after the pardon decree; the remaining will have their terms reduced.

Most of those pardoned will be at large already today. In total, the decree of Giorgi Margvelashvili has pardoned 95 persons.

President Margvelashvili made his decision based on the recommendations of the Pardon Commission. On April 20-23, its members considered the cases of 597 prisoners.

The list of those pardoned includes 12 women and 4 minors. The act of pardoning is timed to the celebration of the Orthodox Easter (on May 1), the TASS cites the statement of Zviad Koridze, the acting head of the Public Pardon Commission under the President.
