Advocate reports on signs of beating on body of detained Imam Magomedov

The body of Magomednabi Magomedov, the detained imam of the Khasavyurt "Eastern" mosque, bears signs of beatings. This was reported by his advocate Selim Magomedov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomednabi Magomedov, Imam of the Salafi "Eastern" mosque, was detained in Khasavyurt on April 8. According to eyewitnesses, the Imam was detained when he came to the local ROVD (District Interior Division) and demanded to release the believers of the "Hospital" mosque detained earlier. The law enforcement authorities assert that the Imam urged believers to terrorist activities and published on the Internet "materials aimed at inciting hatred." The court pronounced the pre-trial restriction against the Imam in the form of detention in custody for two months.

"The Imam told me that after the detention he was taken to the Makhachkala IVS (temporary detention facility). He spent one night there, and no one touched him. On the next day, he was brought to the SIZO (pre-trial prison). He was registered there and brought to some room. There, he was beaten by several people. According to the Imam, there were five or six of them. The attackers humiliated him and forced him to kneel," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Selim Magomedov.

According to the advocate, the body of Magomednabi Magomedov bears signs of beatings. "All the lower part of his body is covered with bruises, and there are no signs of beating on his face," noted the advocate.

During the meeting, the Imam handed over to the advocate a complaint about infliction of bodily harm. According to Selim Magomedov, his client has reported his willingness to identify at least three persons involved in the beating of him. Moreover, Magomednabi Magomedov claims he knows the name of one of the attacker.

"He gave me a complaint in which he asks to open a criminal case on the fact and withdraw records from surveillance cameras, which supposed to record all that happened to him," said the advocate.
