Dagestani preacher Vagif Nurbaev killed in Nizhnevartovsk

On April 4, the Salafi preacher was blown up in his own car near the village of Kazachya Sloboda not far from the city of Nizhnevartovsk.

In 2012, the "Caucasian Knot" published an open letter addressed to Dmitry Medvedev, then Russian President, concerning illegal practices of detention of Muslims and natives of Northern Caucasus. The open letter also included the information that in 2010, Vagif Nurbaev, a native of the Republic of Dagestan, the deputy imam of the Nizhnevartovsk mosque, was detained at the "Sheremetyevo" Airport and drugs were planted to him. In the same year, the Golovinsky Court of Moscow found Vagif Nurbaev guilty of smuggling heroin and sentenced him to 3.5 years of imprisonment.

According to a source close to Vagif Nurbaev, in the evening of April 4, the man with his family members came out of a supermarket, left his child near the house and asked him to wait while he was to park the car. However, Vagif Nurbaev never returned.

For one day, there was no information concerning Vagif Nurbaev, and then his car was found near the village of Kazachya Sloboda. According to his relatives, Vagif Nurbaev was killed, and his body was set on fire.

According to one of the versions, another person perished together with Vagif Nurbaev, since only fragments of bodies were found inside the car.
