Member of "Heritage" Party complains about use of violence at Armenian referendum

In Armenia, the law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the case of obstruction to actions of an authorized delegate at the constitutional referendum held on December 6, 2015.

The criminal case was instituted under article on obstruction of the electoral law, election commissions or exercise of powers by a person participating in the elections, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the press service of the Special Investigation Service.

According to an official, the Special Investigation Service has received a complaint filed by Daniel Ionesyan, an authorized delegate of the "Heritage" Party. In his complaint, Daniel Ionesyan claims the obstruction of his powers during the voting at the December referendum.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, 2015, Armenia held a referendum on constitutional reform. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), the reform project was supported by 63.35% of the voters. The law enforcement authorities of Armenia have instituted dozens of criminal cases at requests of citizens, agents of the media and members of NGOs, and some of cases have already been sent to court.
