Residents of Chechnya report kidnapping of higher school teacher in Grozny

Khizir Ezhiev, a teacher of economics from the Grozny State Oil Technical University (GSOTU), has been kidnapped. This information is disseminated by residents of Chechnya, including his students, through social networks and mobile applications. However, officials of the University and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) fail to confirm this information.

As reported in the WhatsApp and social networks, Ezhiev was detained by power agents on December 19, 2015; and since then his whereabouts are not known, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The information about the incident is extremely scanty, the GSOTU students point out.

"We've learned about it from the message spread by his wife. We asked other teachers about it, but they had no information about his fate or don't want to talk," said a third-year student of the GSOTU.

Ezhiev has good relationships with students, said another student of the university, Islam by name.

At the GSOTU, Ezhiev is a senior lecturer; he has been working there for 12 years, teaching the discipline of "Fundamentals of Economics", "Economics" and "Microeconomics" at the Department of Economics and Management, says the website of the university.
