Advocates of Nemtsov's daughter request to summon General Zolotov for questioning

Viktor Zolotov, Commander-in-Chief of the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), is to explain at trial why officers of the Chechen battalion "Sever" (North) stayed in Moscow for a long time and had the opportunity to get prepared for the murder of Boris Nemtsov. This was stated by advocates of the daughter of the oppositional politician.

Today, the advocates of Zhanna Nemtsova have disseminated a statement on Facebook, in which they criticized the investigation into the criminal case. According to the advocates, the Investigating Committee "faces real difficulties while working in Chechnya, in particularly, while cooperating with its leaders and their subordinates." Besides, the advocates believe that the Russian authorities are not interested in bringing to justice the persons responsible for the Boris Nemtsov's murder.

The victim party believes that the investigators should draw attention to the fact that the battalion "Sever" is a unit of the Russian MIA's Interior Troops, led by General Viktor Zolotov.

According to the advocates' statement, General Viktor Zolotov is "a very non-public" figure. He enjoys confidence of the Russian President, and he is also well-known as a friend of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

At night of September 1, Chechnya held an unscheduled combat readiness test of the regional branch of the OMON (riot police) connected with the arrival of Viktor Zolotov. According to experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", the General Viktor Molotov's visit has become a reminder of the special status of Ramzan Kadyrov and the difficult situation in the region.
