Alkhanov submits application to election commission
On June 22, Chechen Interior Minister Alu Alkhanov submitted his application to the local election commission for registration as a candidate for the post of Chechen president. Alu Alkhanov, whom many people already consider the future president of Chechnya, finally announced his intention to take part in the forthcoming pre-term presidential election set for August 29.
General Alkhanov's candidacy was nominated for the presidential post by the team of the late Chechen president Akhmat Kadyrov. His candidacy has also been approved by the Kremlin administration. And it is a widespread opinion that he is the one who will become a new president of Chechnya "elected by the people" on August 29.
