Oppositionists stage unauthorized picket in Baku
Approximately 40 opposition activists representing the reformatory wing of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (PNFA) staged an unauthorized protest action in front of the building of the Baku city administration on June 21.
The oppositionists scanned slogans "Freedom!", "Long live democracy!", "Free elections", and others.
PNFA Deputy Chairman Hasan Kerimov presented a petition to Baku city administration officials. "The action of protest is being conducted because the city authorities do not allow oppositionists to hold pickets and meetings," reads the petition.
Azerbaijan police dispersed the protesters and detained Kerim Mekhtiyev, a PNFA member.
