Policy of Armenian opposition remains unchanged

The united Armenian opposition held a meeting on June 16. It was authorized for the first time after a long break. Opposition leaders announced during the meeting they would not publish the date of the next meeting beforehand in order not to give authorities the opportunity to get ready to this action "in their own way".

By estimation of law enforcement agencies, from 1500 to 1800 people gathered on the square near the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran. Organizers of the action assert there were 20 thousand people.

The Armenian Communist Party took part in the meeting along with the Justice bloc and the National Unity party.

Stepan Demirchan, the leader of the Justice bloc, stated that in spite of the pressure from the authorities, the opposition is determined to follow its policy "Robert Kocharian Must Resign!"
