Number of presidential candidates in Chechnya reaches 11
Umar Abuyev, a resident of the town of Krasnogorsk situated near Moscow, filed his application with the Chechen Central Election Commission late at night on June 15. He heads Chechenneftekhimprom Company. Mr Abuyev said he would collect signatures in his support.
Chechen Interior Minister Alu Alkhanov announced his intention to run for the Chechen presidency yesterday, June 15. But he has not submitted an official application to the Election Commission so far.
