Three mines defused in territory allocated for ski resort in Chechnya

At the site allocated for the construction of the "Veduchi" ski resort in the mountainous Itum-Kale District of Chechnya, combat engineers have cleared more than 120 hectares of the territory of explosive devices.

"On the construction site of the 'Veduchi' ski resort, combat engineers found and destroyed three explosive objects. In total, in this part of Chechnya, combat engineers are to clean up about 700 hectares of the territory," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by an official from the military commandant's office of Chechnya.

According to the official from the military commandant's office, combat engineers from the units of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) are clearing the territories by the so-called "continuous mine clearance" method, when literally every centimetre of territory is to be checked.

The next stage of mine clearance was launched in Chechnya in early April. It involved about 500 combat engineers from the units of the Southern Military District.

It should be noted that in 2014, the units of combat engineers cleared more than 3000 hectares in Chechnya and thus defused about 3000 pieces of unexploded rounds, mines, and explosive devices.
