NAC refutes reports about Zalim Shebzukhov's murder in CTO in Nalchik

The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has stated today that the name of the casualty of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Nalchik is Zaur Prokopchuk, not Zalim Shebzukhov.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the NAC issued a statement after the CTO that they killed Zalim Shebzukhov, who "had prepared a series of terror acts to be committed during the May holidays" and "recruited fighters for the war in Syria."

According to the NAC, today they have held an operative "identification of the killed militant with participation of close relatives of Shebzukhov and Prokopchuk."

"The relatives have stated that they identified the casualty as Zaur Prokopchuk, born in 1988, the leader of the so-called 'central sector'. We know that he was an accomplice of Shebzukhov, with whom he took an active part in organizing and committing crimes, listed in the initial report of the NAC's information centre," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the NAC's statement.

The casualty had been involved in organizing and committing "a number of very grave crimes, including numerous armed robberies and murders of citizens of the republic," the TASS reports referring to the NAC.
