After Tsarukyan's meeting with Sargsyan, PAP refused to hold protest in Yerevan
Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" Party (PAP), who had called for a change of power in the country, has stated the need for peaceful settlement of disagreements. This statement was made after he met the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on February 17 in the latter's residence.
The meeting took place at the initiative of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" in order to avoid destabilization in the country, said Armen Rustamyan, the MP from the PAP faction. This was preceded by a political scandal of two main political powers in the country.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 12, the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan dismissed Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" Party (PAP), from the membership of the Republic's National Security Council, stating that he "was ignoring his voters," failed to fulfil his duties, and was suspected of non-payment of "billions of taxes."
During the Sargsyan's meeting with Tsarukyan, the parties managed to reach certain agreements; however, no details are known so far, the "News-Armenia" reports with reference to Armenian mass media.
Today, however, the PAP leader made a statement about the need for a peaceful solution of the country's political problems; and the party gave up the idea of the rally scheduled for February 20.
