Chechen residents report on price growth for Eid al-Adha sacrificial animals

In Chechnya, prices for sacrificial animals have increased significantly on the eve of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. This was noted by Chechen residents questioned by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the most important Islam religious holidays. It is the Feast of Sacrifice, which falls on the tenth day of the holy month of Dhu al-Hijjah. It is celebrated during three days, and it marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

This year, in Chechnya, prices for small cattle on the eve of the holiday sometimes exceed 13,000 roubles, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Suleiman D., a resident of Grozny.

According to Visita M., a resident of Grozny, prices for sacrificial animals grow every year by more than 1000 roubles.

"Every year, the costs for the celebration of Eid al-Adha grow by 1500-2000 roubles in average. Last year, for example, I spent 5000 roubles for celebration, and this year, I expect I will have to spend at least 6500-7000 roubles," the source has said.

Let us remind you that on the eve of Eid al-Adha, the Chechen authorities have allocated 1400 lambs for the Muslims of the Astrakhan Region and 1400 lambs for the Muslims of North Ossetia. Moreover, refugees from the east of Ukraine, who live in temporary accommodation centres (TACs), are also to receive lambs for free.
