Grozny enhances security measures on eve of celebration of Akhmat Kadyrov's birthday

On Saturday, Chechnya celebrates the 63rd anniversary of the birth of Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov, the former Chechen leader. The city of Grozny enhances security measures in connection with the celebrations. Meanwhile, not all residents of Chechnya treat spending funds for such magnificent celebration as appropriate and reasonable.

At the beginning of the festivities, the Chechen leaders, the heads of administrations and clergy have visited the grave of Akhmat Kadyrov in his native village of Tsentaroi (Khosi-Yurt) of the Kurchaloi District. The Chechen leaders laid flowers to the Akhmat Kadyrov monument in the territory of the memorial complex "Walk of Fame" in Grozny.

Besides, Grozny is to hold the evening to pay tribute to Akhmat Kadyrov. The events on the occasion of the birthday of the former Chechen leader are being held under the enhanced increased security measures. In the central part of Grozny, traffic is restricted, and residential neighbourhoods adjacent to the building of the national theatre and concert hall are blocked by reinforced police units. On August 21, in the territory of Grozny, the law enforcers conducted large-scale ID checks, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Some residents of the Chechen republic treat spending funds for such events as squandering unacceptable in Islam.

According to one of the representatives of the local clergy, Islam forbids magnifying a man, "praising a person and, moreover, spending huge amounts of money for organization of various events to perpetuate a person's memory."
