At trial in Rostov-on-Don journalist Reznik complains about conditions in SIZO
At the hearing of his case, the Rostov journalist and blogger Sergey Reznik complained about the custody conditions at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) and asked to change it for home arrest; but the court denied the motion.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Reznik was accused of organizing threatening phone calls in his address with the aim to raise his journalistic rating. On November 26, 2013, the Pervomaiskiy District Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced him to 1.5 years of freedom deprivation.
Today, at the court session, the defence filed a motion to exclude certain evidence from the case, said Yuri Kastrubin, Reznik's advocate.
As added by Vladislav Ryazantsev, the coordinator of the "Left-Wing Front", Reznik, who performed through a video conference, also asked the court to put him under home arrest, as he was not happy with his custody conditions. "Reznik said that he was transferred from cell to cell. Now, his cell has no water, neither cold, nor hot, and has poor ventilation. Moreover, he was put to the video conferencing too late. However, the court dismissed the claims," said Ryazantsev.
The next court session is scheduled for April 14, when it is planned to pas over to the parties' debates.
