Policeman, suspected of killing resident of Karachay-Cherkessia, escapes from investigation

Investigators of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) put Ruslan Rakhaev, Deputy Chief of Police in Cherkessk, in the wanted list. The police officer is suspected of beating a detainee who died from the injuries.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 6 police officers in the city of Cherkessk detained D. Djankezov and I. Djatdoev, two local residents. During their examination, the police officers had established the fact of their alcohol and drug intoxication. In accordance with findings of consideration on the case on administrative violation, magistrate sentenced the detainees to 10-day arrest.

According to Sergey Shuvaev, Senior Assistant to Chief of the Investigatory Department of the Russian of the KChR, on the next day, October 7, Ruslan Rakhaev gave unlawful instructions to deliver the detainees to his office. There, according to the investigators, Djankezov was beaten by the police officer.

According to Sergey Shuvaev, forensic medical examination proved at least 18 fractures of ten ribs, traumatic brain injury, and limb injuries. Djankezov died from the injuries before the arrival of an ambulance.

Ruslan Rakhaev escaped from the investigation and was put in the wanted list, the press service of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF for the KChR.
