In Armenia, fact-finding group on opposition's collisions with police disbanded
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has signed an order to nullify his Decree of October 23, 2008, which stipulated setting up and formation order of the fact-finding group about clashes of the opposition with the police on March 1, 2008, in Yerevan.
Today, Samvel Nikoyan, chairman of the interim parliamentary commission for studying the events of March 1, 2008, has invited the oppositional Armenian National Congress to present the materials they have to the interim commission.
"The commission is again addressing all the public and political organizations of the country and to the Armenian National Congress with an offer to present any facts and information (evidences, videos and exposing facts) on the events on March 1-2 to the commission. Materials will be accepted till July 1 with the aim to incorporate them into the commission's final report," said Mr Nikoyan.
Making comments on the President's order on factual disbandment of the fact-finding group, Akop Badalyan, observer of the Internet edition "Lragir", has noted that "it was hard to find a more innocent way to stop the group than presenting Vage Stepanyan, Robert Avakyan and Gevork Tovmasyan as victims of their oppositional colleague."
