Armenia: "Heritage" Party is ready to publish materials on events of March 1, 2008

Should the fact-finding group that was setup to investigate the events on March 1, 2008, be disbanded, the oppositional party named "Heritage" will publish the group's materials at its disposal. This was declared on May 27 at a press conference by Armen Martirosyan, a board member of the "Heritage".

The politician said that so far Anait Bakhshyan, chair of the Party, has no answer to her letter, addressed to Serzh Sargsyan, in which she asked the President to resume the work of the fact-finding group "frozen" back in early May, when its three members left on vacations, and later because of resignation of its head Vage Stepanyan.

Mr Martirosyan said that the group members from the opposition tried to clarify certain facts related to events on March 1, 2008, but the members from the ruling coalition were resolutely against; this very circumstance lead to the deadlock in the work of this body.

He answered in the affirmative when asked about the intention of the "Heritage" Party, which had its members in the group, to publish the available facts should the group be disbanded. "The President's decree on the fact-finding group states clearly that its members have no right to disclose the available data while the group is at work. Thus, we are ready to present all the data we have after the group is disbanded or stopped," said the "Heritage" Party board member.
