Russian GPO: trial on Evloev's murder in Ingushetia cannot be impartial

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) suggests to transfer the consideration of the murder case of Magomed Evloev, former owner of the oppositional website "Ingushetia.Ru", who was killed after detention by law enforcers, to some other region, since the future local trial cannot be fair. The respective petition has already been lodged.

According to Igor Kovalyov, GPO's representative in the Southern Federal District (SFD) of Russia, the decision was made because Evloev's case had been given several times to different judges in Ingushetia, but each of them announced self-disqualification being a relative either to the suffered party or to the accusation, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

"The transfer of this case to another region is quite reasonable," said lawyer Mikhail Barschevskiy, representative of Russian President in supreme judicial instances, as quoted by the "Echo Moskvy" Radio. In his opinion, the primary aim is to have the case considered objectively.

Henry Reznik, President of Moscow Bar, has stated that Magomed Evloev's murder case can be transferred to another region upon agreement of the parties. As he said, "it happens from time to time."
