Rally against Olympic construction to be held in Imereti Valley

The rally will be directed mainly against construction of a cargo port in the Imereti Valley. In the opinion of the organizers, the construction is illegal.

The issue of visiting the rally by Governor of Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachov, who was invited there together with other leaders of the region by the organizers of the action, is still open.

Attempts are already undertaken to demolish houses and resettle people from the territory of future construction. On September 25, local residents stopped by their bodies the tractor of Turkish builders, having prevented the start of the works.

In the opinion of Galina Tashmatova, chairperson of the territorial public organization of independent journalists "Voice of Kuban", the authorities are afraid of consolidated actions of the public. According to the activist, this will be the main topic of the rally.

Vladimir Prigoda, press secretary of the Governor, refused to give any information about possible Tkachov's participation in the rally, writes the portal "Club of Regions". He refused also to detail any other possible Governor's actions aimed to soften the conflict.
