Supreme Court of Dagestan considers Farid Babaev's murder

Today, the Supreme Court of Dagestan in Makhachkala has started a trial on murder of Farid Babaev, chairman of the Dagestan regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party, committed eight months ago - on November 21, 2007.

Now, the prisoners' dock houses direct executors of the crime - Mamedrizaev, Risal Zeinedievich, who pled guilty of committing the crime, and Sefimerzoev, Seferali Seferalievich. They demanded their case to be considered by a jury.

The statement of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" that arrived to the "Caucasian Knot" says that it is obvious that Babaev's murder was customized, however, the customer was not found.

The interests of the relatives of the murdered Farid Babaev at the trial are defended by advocates provided by the HRC "Memorial".

During today's preliminary session, the court satisfied the defendants' petition on considering their case by the jury. The next session will take place on August 5.
