Shamil Buraev arrested on Politkovskaya's case set free

The investigation has decided to release another figurant of the criminal case on Anna Politkovskaya's murder - Shamil Buraev, former head of the Achkhoy-Martan District of Chechnya.

"The head of the investigatory group that is dealing with the criminal case initiated on the fact of murder of Anna Politkovskaya, journalist of the 'Novaya Gazeta', has made a decision to change Shamil Buraev's freedom restriction measure for recognizance not to leave," said Vladimir Markin, official spokesman of the Investigatory Committee under the Prosecutor's Office, and added that four persons are still in custody and under investigation.

The Committee expects to finish the preliminary investigation on Politkovskaya's case by June 20, and then the case materials will go for familiarization to the victim - Anna Politkovskaya's son, and then - to the defendants, the ITAR-TASS reports.
