In Armenia, court extends arrest of opposition leader Zurabyan

The court has added two months to the term of pre-trial custody of Ararat Zurabyan, leader of the oppositional Armenian All-National Movement, as Karen Karapetyan, a member of the Movement Board, has informed.

The Armenian All-National Movement was the party in power during the presidency of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, before 1998, the "Interfax" reminds.

According to Mr Karapetyan, criminal cases have been opened against some 30 members of the Armenian All-National Movement, registered as party members both in the capital and regions of Armenia, the "Arminfo" reports.

In the oppositionist's opinion, one can unequivocally assert that so far the authorities have failed to undertake any attempts to fulfil the Resolution of the PACE No. 1609 "On Operation of Democratic Institutes in Armenia".
