Bryza: USA want Georgian authorities to lift the emergency state

Matthew Bryza, assistant of the US State Secretary, states that lifting of the emergency state in the Georgian capital is one of the main requests of the USA.

Matthew Bryza, assistant of the US State Secretary who came to Georgia yesterday, met with Zurab Nogailedi, Georgian Prime-Minister. The meeting at the Georgian state office lasted for one and a half hours behind the closed doors.

After the meeting, Bryza stated to the journalists that he brought specific proposals from Condoleezza Rice for easing the situation in Georgia. According to Bryza, lifting of the emergency state in the Georgian capital is one of the main requests of the USA, reports "Gazeta.Ru".

Matthew Bryza stated that the responsibility for the events of November 7 rested both with the Georgian Government which, in his view, was to ensure the safety of the participants of the meeting, and the opposition which should have prevented the calls for a violent change of power from being heard during the meetings.

For reference, Matthew Bryza, assistant of the US State Secretary who came to Georgia on November 11, has had the first meeting with leaders of the united opposition today morning. The meeting has been held at the "Tbilisi-Mariotte" hotel behind the closed doors. Bryza has refused to give any comments after the meeting.

For reference, the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has also called upon the Georgian authorities to lift the emergency state in the country.
