Musaev: complaint of the General Prosecutor's Office cannot cancel the verdict on Ploitkovskaya's case

The cassation complaint lodged by the Russian General Prosecutor's Office on cancellation of the "not guilty" verdict passed on the murder case of Anna Ploitkovskaya, observer of the "Novaya Gazeta", has today become available to the participants of the process. Murad Musaev, advocate of one of the acquitted persons, saw no grounds for cancelling the verdict in the complaint.

"It has no grounds to cancel the verdict," Mr Musaev said having studied the document.

"The whole world saw: the proofs presented by the Investigatory Committee were contradictory to each other and refuted the very plot of the charges," he said in his interview to the "IslamNews" on the outcomes of the litigation.

According to Murad Musaev, the consideration of the cassation presentation lodged by the State Office of Public Prosecutor can start in about two months, as the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reported.

"The best thing that I can do for finding real Ploitkovskaya's killers is not to allow appointing innocent people to this role, or 'scapegoats'. Should these guys - Dzhabrail and Ibragim - have been convicted, nobody should have searched real Ploitkovskaya's killers," advocate Musaev has noted. At the same time, he expressed fears that his clients can be persecuted.
