Advocates of Evloev family ask to punish the militiamen who detained the oppositionist in Magas

Today, the advocates defending the family of Magomed Evloev, former owner of the oppositional website "Ingushetia.Ru", who died on August 31, 2008, have lodged a complaint to the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) with a demand to initiate a criminal case against the militiamen, who had illegally detained Evloev at the airport of Magas, as one of the advocates Musa Pliev has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20 the Supreme Court of Ingushetia upheld the decision of the Nazran District recognizing Evloev's detention at the Magas airport as illegal. On January 30, the decision of the Supreme Court came into its legal force.

"Today, we've lodged a complaint to the ICPO asking to open a criminal case and bring to responsibility those guilty of Evloev's illegal detention," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Musa Pliev as saying.

The advocate has noted that some five-six persons had taken part in that illegal detention, among them the inspector who made a decision to arrest Evloev, head of the GUVD (City Militia Administration) who executed the detention, and representative of the ROVD (District Militia Division), in the territory of which the airport is located.

Besides, according to Mr Pliev, the inspector of the Nazran ROVD who had sanctioned Evloev's arrest later confessed in his appeal to President and Public Prosecutor of Ingushetia that he signed the statement already after Evloev's death.
