Armenia hosts rally in support of "Case of Seven" defendants

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that already before the start of today's session on the "Case of Seven" at least five hundred participants of the protest action have rallied near the building of the General Jurisdiction Court of the Shengavit community.

The protesters held posters: "Freedom to political prisoners!"

Meanwhile, one could see reinforced policemen teams from patrol sentry regiments and special units of the so-called "crimson berets" armed with truncheons grouped near the building of the Court. Today, their cordon was placed some 150-200 meters away from the building; and metal fencing was installed still farther, preventing the protesters from approaching closer to the Court.

The policemen behaved composedly.

We note here that today Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, who is in charge of the trial on the "Case of Seven" accused of disorders on March 1-2, 2008, in Armenia, again postponed the session by two weeks. Mr Martirosyan has motivated his decision by the fact that the defendants have refused to stand up when he entered the court room.
