ATC's accident in Ingushetia: eyewitness' comment

A driver who happened to be an eyewitness of the collision of an armoured troop-carrier (ATC) with two VAZ passenger cars in Ingushetia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by telephone that a slippery road and inaccurate ATC's driving were the causes of the accident.

According to the eyewitness, the accident took place on January 21 at about 3:30 p.m. at the check post located at the entrance to Nazran, following the Chermen check post. The ATC drove out into the oncoming traffic lane and crushed into two passenger cars - models VAZ-2107 and VAZ-2106.

"It looked as follows: the ATC completely drove over one of the cars and crashed into the other one. I hardly managed to go round and hurried away. I don't think that should I stay and started making photos, it would end for me without consequences," said the correspondent's contact.

T. Esiev who was hospitalized after the accident died late at night in hospital. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about by the head physician of the hospital.

In April 2008, Magomed Mutsolgov, leader of the Human Rights Organization "Mashr", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that since 2002 five collisions of armoured machines with civil transport took place in Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier about of a number of similar accidents. Thus, on April 6, 2008, in the crossing of Mira and Pervomaiskaya Streets in Nesterovskaya village an ATC crushed into an IZh-2715 driven by Hussein Evloev, 40, a resident of the village. As a result of the road accident, Mr Evloev was traumatized.

On October 17, 2007, in the "Kavkaz" Federal Highway, near Yandyry village, an ATC rammed a "Volga" car; five local residents suffered.

On August 29, 2007, in the same Highway, in the vicinity of the Barsukinskiy Municipal District of Nazran, an ATC of the federal troops, which moved in a military column, drove over a passenger car parked on the road shoulder and then rushed into the UAZ van, which accompanied the column. As a result of the collision, the UAZ lighted up. Three militaries were lost.
