President of Dagestan: billionaire Kerimov ready to buy "Anzhi"

President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev has confirmed at the press conference in Makhachkala the intention of Russian senator from Dagestan, businessman-billionaire Suleiman Kerimov to the Dagestan football club "Anzhi".

"I can't disclose all the details of our conversation," said Mr Aliev, "but I can tell you that Suleiman Kerimov is ready to buy the 'Anzhi' club".

President of Dagestan has also told journalists that Mr Kerimov is going to finance construction of a new base for the team and a new stadium for 42,000 seats", the RIA "Novosti" Agency reports.

Earlier, a source from Suleiman Kerimov's retinue told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that this Russian billionaire from Dagestan wanted to make huge investments into the "Anzhi" football club. However, then the President of the Republic did not approve the deal, and it failed.

President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev stated earlier that he was going to render financial support of 70 million roubles to the Makhachkala club. The money was promised in September, but, according to "Anzhi", it has not arrived yet, and the promise was indefinitely postponed.

For reference: The "Anzhi" Football Club was founded in 1991. In 2000-2002, it played in the Premier League of Russian championship. The top achievement of the club was the 4th place in 2000. Now "Anzhi" plays in the First Division of Russian football championship, currently among the leaders.
