Russian bards to hold charitable concerts in North and South Ossetia

On October 18, Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, and on October 19, Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia, will host charitable concerts of participants and laureates of traditional and widely known Valery Grushin All-Russian Festivals of Bards' Songs.

It has become known to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on October 17, 23 poets-singers (bards) from Samara, Alma-Ata, Moscow, St-Petersburg, Vologda and Tolyatti arrived to Vladikavkaz Airport.

The participants of the concerts will address the theme of civil courage, resistance, dignity and peoples' unification in the name of achieving the long-awaited peace.

"We're a united nation, we all live in Russia, we speak one language, both in life and profession, and in difficult minutes we need to stick together, feel each other's support, which gives us strength," said Veniamin Smekhov, a well-known actor and author of songs.

Last year, within the Festival, Russian bards gave concerts to the children of Beslan injured in the terror act. "This year, our brothers in South Ossetia got in trouble, and the bards have again reacted to the tragic events and decided to hold two charitable actions at a time," the organizer of the concerts has emphasized.

The Festival of Author's Song named after Valery Grushin who died tragically while saving children has forty years of history.
