In Azerbaijan, "Reporters without Borders" give money to families of arrested journalists

The "Reporters without Borders", an international organization in defence of the freedom of press, has rendered financial aid to the families of three imprisoned journalists: Sakit Zakhidov, Ganimat Zakhidov and Mushfig Guseinov.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that on Thursday, October 16, Elza Vidal, representative of the above organization, who is now in Baku, visited the wives of the imprisoned journalists.

According to her story, the aid (the sums are not disclosed for ethical reasons) was rendered in view of the fact that these journalists have 12 children in total; their families have no permanent income and experience serious problems.

During the meeting, the wives of the journalists have informed the visitor about the state of things of their husbands, their health condition and custody mode. It was noted that Sakit Zakhidov's health is of special concern, since he needs permanent medical care.

Ms Vidal has also met the father of another convicted journalist - Einullah Fatullaev - Emin Fatullaev, who informed the visitor about Einullah's custody conditions and the pressure rendered on him.

Elza Vidal has assured that the cases of all the convicted journalists are still in the focus of attention, and everything possible will be undertaken to release them and support their families.
