Armenian opposition ready to hold a mass rally

Today, the Armenian opposition has declared its intention to hold a mass nationwide rally. In the opinion of Levon Zarubyan, spokesman of the oppositional Armenian National Congress, the rally should become the "decisive event."

"Today is the decisive phase of fighting against the existing power. Restoration of freedoms and setting up of a duly elected and efficient government are in people's hands. The authorities fail to follow their obligations related to the freedom of assembly and independent investigation into March 1 events in Yerevan," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Zarubyan.

At the same time, he refused to speak about particular actions of the opposition, having noted that "the information about them will be published soon."

This time, the Mayoralty of Yerevan has allowed the Armenian opposition to hold a rally on Monday near the library of ancient manuscripts "Matenadaran" in the centre of the capital of Armenia.
