Russia's MNRE calls President of Adygea to protect World Natural Heritage
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology (MNRE) of the Russian Federation tries to urge the government of the Republic of Adygea (RA) to take measures for supporting safety of the object of the World Natural Heritage named "Western Caucasus" situated in the territory of this republic. The official letter was sent by the MNRE on August 7, however until now, according to the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus, nothing has been undertaken.
"The letter was signed by Semyon Levi, Acted Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology," reports the Ecological Watch. "It was sent directly to President of Adygea Aslan Tkhakushinov. The Minister's demands, as stated in the letter, meet the basic demands moved forward by public ecological organizations."
The MNRE's proposals refer to the construction of the highway to the complex "Lunnaya Polyana" (Moon Meadow), which was officially recognized illegal this summer and stopped (the official name of the road is "Chernigovskoye - 'Biosphere' Scientific Centre"). However, the permit documents that accompanied the construction remain valid today.
The point is in three statements of the administration of the Maikop District, which define the location of the road and approve the land plots therefore, the Ecological Watch reminds. This is also the certificate on state registration of the right to permanently use the land area, issued to the Road Agency of Adygea, and the permit to build the highway granted by the RA's Committee on Architecture and City Planning to the same Agency. In the opinion of the RF's MNRE, these documents must be cancelled, the ecologists assert by referring to the letter.
