Human rights activists believe that the attack on Danielyan is aimed against all human rights activities in Armenia
Human rights activist assert that the attack on Michael Danielyan, Chairman of the Helsinki Association, was targeted against all human rights activities in Armenia.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly has disseminated a statement that on May 21 Michael Danielyan, Chairman of the Helsinki Association, was attacked by a group of people headed by Tigran Urikhanyan, former chairman of the National Progressive Party of Armenia.
According to the authors of the statement, "the incident was a physical assault not only on the person engaged in human rights issues, but against all human rights activities in the country in general."
Meanwhile, Tigran Urikhanyan, former chairman of the National Progressive Party of Armenia, asserts that "M. Danielyan was the first to burst out in a stream of abusive words, attack him and strike with an unknown object."
On May 21, a criminal case was opened on the fact, and now the investigation is underway.
