OSCE observers are positive on elections in Georgia

The representatives of the OSCE, who observed the May 21 parliamentary elections in Georgia, have characterized the voting process as "generally positive."
However, the OSCE observers have noted a number of problems, including the facts of "voters' intimidations."

The group of observers from the PACE has also stated that, as a whole, the May 21 voting across Georgia had passed without gross violations. Two groups of observers from Lithuania were also positive in their assessments of the parliamentary elections in Georgia.

"The voting passed mainly calmly, and we assess it in the positive way," runs the OSCE statement.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent informs that Eka Siradze, chair of the NGO named "The International Society for Democracy and Fair Elections", has enumerated the four parties, who, according to parallel tabulation, crossed over the 5-percent threshold at elections in Georgia. They are: party in power "United National Movement", block "United Opposition - New Right-Wingers", Christian Democratic movement and the Labour Party.
