During 15 years, 983 applications were lodges to the European Court for Human Rights versus Armenia
Within the period from April 26, 1992 (when Armenia acceded to the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms), till December 15, 2007, a total of 983 applications were lodged to the European Court for Human Rights (ECtHR) versus this country. This fact was reported on December 19 at a press conference by Gevork Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia, plenipotentiary representative of the government of the country at the ECtHR.
Out of the total number submitted to Strasbourg, 242 claims were recognized to be non-eligible. At the same time, as Mr Kostanyan has noted, from January 1 to December 15, 2007, a total of 597 claims were filed versus Armenia at the ECtHR; of them 40 claims have been recognized non-eligible, on four cases decisions were passed, and four cases were stopped, the IA "News-Armenia" reports.

Currently, the European Court is considering 12 claims on administrative offences, 13 criminal and 32 civil cases from Armenia.
