Giorgi Bachiashvili's parents are facing criminal prosecution in Georgia.

The Georgian Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case against the parents of convicted inmate Giorgi Bachiashvili on charges of aiding the laundering of illegal proceeds.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, in mid-September, a Tbilisi court, at the request of the investigation, seized the bank accounts and assets of the parents of former co-investment fund head Giorgi Bachiashvili, who was found guilty of embezzling bitcoins belonging to Bidzina Ivanishvili.

According to the agency, the ongoing investigation has established that Giorgi Bachiashvili involved his parents in "necessary actions" to legitimize some of the assets obtained through criminal activity, Interpressnews reports.

"As part of the ongoing investigation, it was established that Giorgi Bachiashvili also involved his parents in actions necessary to legitimize some of the assets obtained through criminal activity," the Georgian Prosecutor's Office posted on its Facebook page*.

(Bachiashvili's parents), through operations to transfer funds/assets from abroad to the jurisdiction of Georgia, accumulating them in their accounts, as well as in accounts controlled by Giorgi Bachiashvili.
