Arsen Markaryan arrested for 17 days

A Moscow court has arrested blogger of Armenian origin Arsen Markaryan, accused of insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland. The blogger refused to admit guilt.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, on August 23, in the Moscow region Arsen Markaryan, a blogger of Armenian origin, was detained in the case of rehabilitation of Nazism.

On August 25, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow arrested blogger Arsen Markaryan, he was sent to a pretrial detention center for 17 days, Gazeta.ru writes with reference to the press service of the Moscow courts.

The court hearing was held without journalists, however, according to RT, the blogger refused to admit guilt. When he was shown a video containing information about insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland, Markaryan said that he did not recognize the person in the recording. "The channel is unfamiliar to me, I did not create it or administer it, I did not post this video or send it to anyone," the publication quotes him as saying.

Margaryan's mother presented his letters of gratitude and about 30 medals for his sporting achievements to the court. Several girls from the support group also appeared in court, bringing the blogger the things he needed in the pretrial detention center, TASS reports.
