Officials in Baksan found negligent in resettling people from dilapidated housing

Residents of three dilapidated buildings in Baksan have been waiting for resettlement for more than four years, but local government officials have done nothing to ensure this.

A criminal case under the article on negligence has been opened against unnamed employees of the Baksan administration due to the delay in resettling dilapidated buildings.

Back in April 2021, the interdepartmental commission recognized three apartment buildings on Lenin Street in Baksan as dilapidated. In June of the same year, the local administration issued a corresponding resolution, but officials have not yet taken measures to resettle residents into safe apartments and demolish dilapidated buildings, the Investigative Committee of Kabardino-Balkaria reported on August 25.

The structures of the houses are significantly damaged, living in them is dangerous for the life and health of residents, which local officials “reliably knew”, the investigation took measures to speed up the resettlement of residents, according to a publication on the agency’s Telegram channel.

According to the investigators, there are no specific suspects in the criminal case yet. The article on negligence (part 1 of article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) provides for up to a year of correctional labor or up to three months of arrest.
