Accounts of the owner of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" have been frozen

The Arbitration Court of Krasnodar Krai has frozen the accounts of Volgatransneft CJSC, which owns the Volgoneft-239 tanker that sank in the Kerch Strait and was carrying fuel oil.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, on May 30, Rosprirodnadzor filed lawsuits for 85 billion rubles against the owners of the Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 tankers that sank in the Black Sea. On August 13, the court upheld Rosprirodnadzor's claim against the owner and charterer of the Volgoneft-212 tanker and fined them almost 50 billion rubles. Later that day, the court fined the owner of the second tanker, Volgotransneft-239, 35 billion rubles. The Arbitration Court of Krasnodar Krai froze the accounts and all banking assets of the owner and charterer of the tanker Volgoneft-212, which sank in the Kerch Strait. The charterer company is already in the process of bankruptcy.

The Arbitration Court of Krasnodar Krai has seized funds, including those in accounts in banks and other credit institutions, belonging to Volgatransneft CJSC (owner of the Volgoneft-239 tanker that sank in the Kerch Strait in December 2024), Interfax reported, citing the arbitration case file.

"To seize all funds, including those in accounts in banks and other credit institutions, belonging to Volgatransneft CJSC, including but not limited to funds in the accounts of VTB Bank PJSC, Marine Joint-Stock Bank JSC, Sberbank of Russia PJSC, including funds that will be received on the said accounts and other accounts, as well as other valuables, including those in deposits and (or) stored in banks and (or) other credit institutions, individual bank safes and (or) cells, metal accounts (accounts in precious metals)", - the ruling says.

The exception is transactions for the transfer of funds, as well as funds intended for making payments under loan agreements with Russian banks concluded before the adoption of measures to secure the claim, payment of wages to employees and other payments related to labor relations, payment of taxes, fees, penalties, fines and other payments to the budget provided for by tax legislation, administrative fines, duties (fees) and other payments aimed at ensuring the continuity of current production (business) activities.

The Black Sea-Azov Marine Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources filed a corresponding motion to seize the companies' accounts. However, Rosprirodnadzor's motion was partially satisfied.

The court dismissed the motion to prohibit the company from opening new bank accounts, believing that the requested interim measure was excessive and could hinder normal business activities.
