Kadyrov presented Chimaev with a Maybach for the championship belt

Ramzan Kadyrov, who met Khamzat Chimaev at the Grozny airport, posed for journalists with his championship belt and presented the athlete with a Maybach car.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on August 17, UFC fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev, who competes for the UAE, became the new champion of the organization in the middleweight division, defeating South African Drikus du Plessis.

Kadyrov reported on the ceremonial meeting of Chimaev at the Grozny airport on the evening of August 20. “He handed me the belt he won in battle, and with this gesture emphasized that his victory is a common victory of our people,” Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Having praised Chimaev for the fight, Kadyrov noted that he “resumed training himself. “Khamzat is a shining example of how if you work with full dedication, you can achieve any goal. His success became an incentive for me personally: after his fight, I resumed training,” the publication says.

Chimaev himself, in turn, told journalists that the support of the head of Chechnya has always helped him. In a video from the Grozny airport, he presents his championship belt to Kadyrov immediately after leaving the plane, and Kadyrov poses with it in front of journalists, and then passes the belt to his son Adam. At the same time, Chimaev is presented with a new car, in which he leaves the airport - a Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600.

The price of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 in 2025 is more than 200 thousand dollars (16.5 million rubles), notes the publication Car and Driver. On the website Dubicars.com, which publishes offers for buyers of luxury cars in the UAE, new cars of this model are offered at a price of 257 to 291 thousand dollars (from 20.6 to 23.5 million rubles).

After the meeting at the airport, Chimaev was not given his championship belt, claims the opposition Chechen channel NIYSO. “He returned to his ancestral village without it. Apparently, Adam Kadyrov will now be the owner of the UFC belt," the channel's publication says.

In the video filmed immediately after Chimaev's victory in the ring, the fighter, who had just received the belt, shouts in Chechen, "Dostum (Adam Kadyrov's call sign), I'm bringing you this piece of iron!" the "freedom is (not) far away" podcast notes.

The authors of the podcast also note that Kadyrov gave Chimaev "many expensive gifts, including "at least three Mercedes."

Ramzan Kadyrov has repeatedly given expensive cars to athletes, including on behalf of the Kadyrov Foundation. On October 11, 2018, he congratulated Dagestani fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov on his victory over Conor McGregor and named after Kadyrov Foundation handed him the keys to a Mercedes W222 worth at least six million rubles. In December 2021, Dagestani MMA fighter Magomed Ankalaev received a Mercedes from Kadyrov.
