Return of Ivan Gel's case to the prosecutor's office appealed

The victims appealed the return of the case of the head of the Ilovlinsky district Ivan Gel to the prosecutor's office, and the department itself did not agree with this decision of the judge.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, the head of the Ilovlinsky district Ivan Gel was charged in a criminal case on abuse of office causing grave consequences (Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, he sent administration employees to put out the fire who were not authorized to do this work, after which 52-year-old Alexander Pereyarin died from burns and three of his colleagues were injured. On August 7, the court made a decision to return the case to the prosecutor's office.

The Ilovlinsky District Prosecutor's Office and the representative of the victims, Yuri Bukayev, appealed the return of Ivan Gel's case to the prosecutor's office, Vysota 102 wrote on August 19.

Yuri Bukayev called the judge's decision strange. According to him, the investigation and the prosecutor's office have done a lot of work on the indictment, and the prosecutor's office has sent the case back to investigators with comments at least twice. "In addition, it is surprising that the judge came to the conclusion that it was impossible to consider the case after he had already considered it! After all, he had the case since the beginning of this year, and he had some questions about the indictment literally before the verdict was passed," the publication quotes him as saying.

Bukayev also said that Alexander Pereyarin's relatives are in shock, and promised to go to the Supreme Court to have the decision to return the case to the prosecutor's office declared illegal.

Recall that on November 17, 2024, residents of the village of Ilovlya, in an appeal to the Prosecutor General and the head of the Presidential Directorate for Domestic Policy, stated that Ivan Gel was illegally in office, since his powers expired on November 4. The district authorities reported that candidates for the position would be selected by a selection committee, and the district Duma deputies would elect him. This contradicted the district charter, according to which the head is elected by universal suffrage.

Earlier, Ilovlya residents held a meeting at which they recorded a video message to the chairman of the Investigative Committee with a complaint about the lack of transparency in the election of the district head. They pointed out that the term of office of the district head had expired, but residents were not properly informed and within the established time frame of any information about his re-election or reappointment.

Local residents believe that "big people at the federal and regional levels are behind Ivan Gel," Yevgeny Frolov, a resident of the district, told the "Caucasian Knot" in December 2024. "We hope that the court finds him guilty of the death of a person in a fire - and then his tenure as head of the district will be simply blatantly illegal. We are waiting for the court's verdict, since there is no hope for the deputies of the district Duma," he said.
