FSB reports on preventing terrorist attack on Crimean Bridge

Security forces found an explosive device in a car that arrived from Georgia. According to the FSB, the car was supposed to go to the Krasnodar Territory, it was planned to use it to blow up the Crimean Bridge.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on October 8, 2022, an explosion occurred on the Crimean Bridge, two spans collapsed. Vladimir Putin called the incident a terrorist attack, the FSB stated that the organizer of the terrorist attack was the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Traffic on the bridge was resumed a month later.

FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. A car with a high-power improvised explosive device arrived in Russia from Ukraine in transit through a number of countries. Crossed the Russian-Georgian border at the Verkhniy Lars international checkpoint in North Ossetia and was supposed to proceed to Krasnodar Krai.

According to the department, the car with the bomb was subsequently to be handed over to another driver - he was supposed to drive it to Crimea via the Crimean Bridge "and become an unwitting suicide bomber," Kommersant reported.

Security officials identified and defused the explosive device, carefully disguised in a Chevrolet Volt, and also detained all those involved in its delivery to the country. The FSB Public Relations Center clarified that this is already the second attempt by Ukrainian special services to carry out a terrorist attack on the bridge since the beginning of this year.  

Security officials also published a video of the detention and interrogation. The video begins with the detention of two men next to a white GAZelle, which is transporting a gray Chevrolet Volt. Then the officers special services are inspecting a passenger car and an explosive device found in it.

Another man, whose face is hidden, said during interrogation that they were supposed to bring him from a European country car.

" said that I needed to send documents - passport, SNILS, driver's license. I sent him all of this. After which he told me that I would need to go to customs in Mineralnye Vody and find out what documents are needed to clear the car through customs. Then go to Lermontov to register the car," he said on the recording.

After that, he was supposed to pick up the car and drive it to Crimea across the Crimean Bridge. "After which I was detained by FSB officers," the detainee said.

Recall that on July 17, 2023, the Crimean Bridge was attacked by Ukrainian drones, one span was destroyed, another was damaged. Traffic on the bridge was restored only on November 1 of that year. same year.
