Former Armenian MP's Condition Worsens Under Arrest

Former member of the Armenian parliament Ruben Hakobyan, arrested in a case of public calls to seize power, was hospitalized due to poor health, but was again taken into custody.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel wrote, on July 10 the court arrested former member of the Armenian parliament and former member of the Armenian revolutionary faction "Dashnaktsutyun" Ruben Hakobyan, a suspect in a criminal case of public calls to seize power authorities.

The health of Ruben Hakobyan, who is in a penal institution, has worsened, he was taken to the hospital by ambulance on August 17, News.am writes with reference to the son of former MP Samvel Hakobyan.

However, according to Hakobyan Jr., his father did not stay in the medical center for long, he was not examined, since it was Sunday, but was returned to the penal institution. The son considered the incident a disgrace. He believes that his father's arrest is related to the expression of his political views.

Recall that on June 25, security forces conducted more than 90 searches in the case of preparing to seize power in Armenia. By a court decision, the leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan and 14 other people were taken into custody.

A day earlier, on June 24, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that a coup had been prevented and published a document with the text of the opposition's alleged plan to remove him from power.
