Rostov Region Resident Deprived of Citizenship Due to Security Threat

A native of one of the South Asian countries, living in the Rostov region, was deprived of Russian citizenship due to calls for the use of violence against representatives of other faiths, criticism of Russian legislation, distribution of extremist materials and evasion of military registration.

The security forces considered the native of one of the South Asian countries a threat to national security.

According to the FSB of Russia for the Rostov region, the man received Russian citizenship in 2021. It turned out that in 2022-2023 he repeatedly traveled to Egypt, where he studied at the Muslim Theological University, Don-24 reported on July 29.

During the investigation, it was established that he repeatedly called for the use of violence against representatives of other faiths, criticized Russian legislation on freedom of religion, and tried to create a closed group on social networks to distribute extremist materials. In addition, he evaded military registration, citing religious beliefs, Rostov-Gazeta reports.

The Pervomaisky District Court held the man accountable for inciting hatred towards a group of people on the basis of their religious beliefs, and the Rostov Region Ministry of Internal Affairs terminated his Russian citizenship.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" wrote that on July 16, Azerbaijani mixed martial artist Javid Rzayev was stripped of his Russian citizenship.
