Saraliev reported on a new stage of prisoner exchange

State Duma deputy from Chechnya Shamsail Saraliev reported the return of a new group of military personnel from Ukrainian captivity. Among those exchanged was a resident of Vladikavkaz.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, in May Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners in three stages according to the formula "1000 for 1000" in accordance with the agreements reached within the framework of the Istanbul negotiations. In June, the exchange of prisoners of war with Ukraine continued in accordance with the agreements reached on June 2 in Istanbul, it was reported that groups of military personnel would return on June 12, 15 and 19. State Duma deputy from Chechnya Shamsail Saraliev has been negotiating the issue of returning the prisoners for more than three years. Neither he nor the Russian Defense Ministry named the number of returned military personnel.

“The next stage of the exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine took place,” Shamsail Saraliev wrote late in the evening of July 23 on his Telegram channel.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that a group of Russian servicemen were returned from captivity in accordance with the Istanbul agreements of June 2. The participants in the exchange are currently in Belarus, and will subsequently undergo rehabilitation in Russia, the department’s official channel said.

Neither Saraliev nor the Ministry of Defense specified how many soldiers had been returned from captivity. The “Our Way Out” movement (listed by the Russian Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent) reported that among those returned was Vladikavkaz resident Soslanbek Gadzatsev - after being captured, he was listed as missing for some time, and his wife was even told that he had been killed.
