Contract soldier from Astrakhan region killed in Ukraine

At least 3,503 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 3,547 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

Artur Romanov, born in 1987, was killed in the military operation, the Volodarsky District administration reported on its Telegram channel on July 22.

Romanov worked as a fisherman on the 20th Party Congress collective farm, then at a furniture factory. "On September 26, 2024, he signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. With the rank of sergeant, he was appointed a rifleman in the motorized rifle squad of the 252nd motorized rifle regiment... His life was tragically cut short on October 23, 2024," the publication says.

Thus, at least 579 fighters from the Astrakhan region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.
