Child injured in attack by stray dogs in Derbent

Investigators in Dagestan have opened a criminal case of negligence after dogs attacked an eight-year-old child in Derbent. The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has demanded a report on the investigation results.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, in March, a 76-year-old woman died in a cemetery in Buinaksk as a result of an attack by stray dogs. The Investigative Committee reported on a criminal case under the article on negligence that resulted in the death of a person. Residents of Buinaksk said that they do not see the results of the work to catch stray animals, since there are still many stray dogs.

An eight-year-old child was attacked by stray dogs in Derbent on July 17. The attack occurred in the morning on Mamedbekov Street, the boy received bodily injuries.

In connection with the incident, investigators opened a criminal case under the article on negligence (part 1 of article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia), the Investigative Committee of Dagestan reported on its official channel. The department's statement does not specify the condition of the injured child.

The head of the federal department, Alexander Bastrykin, has taken an interest in the case - he instructed the head of the republican department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation "to present a report on the progress of the investigation of the criminal case and the established circumstances."

"Kavkazsky Uzel" also wrote that in 2017, the death of a nine-year-old girl from dog bites in Makhachkala caused a public outcry. On February 19, 2017, the child's body was found with multiple lacerations. After the incident, residents of Dagestan began to report mass shooting of dogs in the republic.
